Lindsay Linton Buk is based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where she works as a portrait photographer, artist and documentarian. A fifth-generation Wyomingite, Linton discovered photography while on hiatus from her dance training. In need of a creative outlet, she signed up for an introductory photography class and was hooked. During her studies at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, her work earned "Best Portrait" and "Best in Show" at the annual student showcases. Her thesis project, "Been Here for Generations," gained local and statewide recognition for her photographic & written portrayal of seven generational farming families in her hometown of Powell, WY. Upon graduation, an internship with famed photographer Rodney Smith brought her to NYC, and later, she landed her primary NYC mentorship with portrait photographer Peter Hurley.
Since 2016, she has created the documentary portrait and interview series, Women in Wyoming. The project has generated national acclaim with features on The Travel Channel, Forbes.com, and American Way, an American Airlines publication. Her multimedia exhibit, “Women in Wyoming: Portraits and Interviews of Women Who Shape the West” has presented at Wyoming’s only Smithsonian museum- the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, the University of Wyoming Art Museum in Laramie, Wyoming, the Center for the Arts and Arts Association Galleries in Jackson, Wyoming, and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK.
In addition to her photography, Lindsay is passionate about advocacy work and serves as Vice Chair of the Wyoming Women’s Foundation, which works towards the economic self-sufficiency of women and opportunities for girls in Wyoming.
